When Team17 created Worms back in 1995, the game was an instant hit. I played the demo version of the turn-based strategy game which came with one of the gaming magazines I used to buy, and needless to say, I was hooked.
Players controlled a team of heavily armed worms who had to battle other teams on a 2D map, each taking turns to bombard the other with their arsenal of insane weaponry.
It's almost 20 years later and the Worms franchise is still going strong, and Team17 plans to continue the series with the announcement of a new game called Worms Revolution. Like the original game, it'll be completely turn-based.
Worms Revolution has been developed from the ground up with an all new game engine. While the announcement was fairly light on the details, we're informed that the game will feature fan favorites including the Super Sheep and the Holy Hand Grenade.
Worms Revolution is set for a Q3 2012 release for both the consoles and the PC.
