Konami has announced in a press release today the launch of Survival Mode for Metal Gear Online, the squad-based multiplayer feature for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
Survival is a new win-steak mode in which teams of players compete to earn better rewards. The longer your streak, the better the rewards you’ll receive. The three maps (Coral Complex, Rust Palace, and Azure Mountain) added by the recent Cloaked in Silence DLC can be used by all players for free in Survival Mode matches, with a limit of 10 matches per week. This limit is reset every Tuesday during scheduled maintenance.
Those who purchased the Cloaked in Silence Expansion Pack will be able to play an unlimited number of Survival Mode matches.
Cloaked in Silence launched on March 15th and unlocked sniper Quiet as a playable character.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain including Metal Gear Online is available for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The game was Hideo Kojima and the old Kojima Productions’ last game at Konami. The renowned developer had a sometimes quite public falling out with his former employer last year and finally left in December when his contract expired. Kojima established a new independent Kojima Productions studio and is working with Sony to develop a brand new IP for PlayStation 4.
Despite the troubles, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain shipped six million units by January of this year.
