The Kickstarter campaign for CivCraft – Legends of Ellaria, a hybrid of real-time strategy and first-person shooter gameplay with role-playing game elements, has officially launched and is well on its way to being successfully funded.
CivCraft – Legends of Ellaria takes the RTS, FPS, and RPG genres and combines them into one game. You play as a king that is presiding over one of five kingdoms and it is your job to build, fortify and evolve your kingdom while either working with or against the other four kingdoms. What makes Legends of Ellaria unique is that players can switch between managing their kingdom on a micro level in an FPS-focused mode or on a macro level in an RTS-focused mode. These two gameplay styles can be switched between at any time the player chooses.
On the role-playing side of things, Legends of Ellaria will have a moral alignment system, which will determine your king’s moral standing as either chaotically evil, lawfully good, or somewhere in between. This is something akin to the Paragon/Renegade system found in Mass Effect.
The Kickstarter campaign has raised nearly $8,000 of its $12,500 goal with 32 days remaining to reach 100% funding completion. Pledge tiers range from $5 to $10,000 and include typical rewards like a copy of the game and early access to it before it officially launches, but it also includes some more exclusive rewards, such as designing your own artifact item or special spell for the game and more. Currently the game is slated for release on PC and Mac with console ports to follow at a later date.
