Remember cancelled Kickstarter Dark Deception? The game is back on the platform, coming on strong having passed Steam Greenlight, with a lower goal and more platforms.
On top of PC (with Oculus Rift) and Wii U, the game is now also slated for PlayStation 4 and Vita. Glowstick Games is now only asking for $ 15,000, compared to the $ 50,000 goal they had in the middle of last year before they cancelled their crowdfund then.
Glowstick explained before that they decided to pull out from Kickstarter after realizing they made a few mistakes and needed to make adjustments to the game. Given PS4/ Vita support, that may have meant, not just adding more platforms, but easing up on possible multiple screen requirements.
Glowstick Games’ pitch for Dark Deception is simple and appealing. The game is a grotesque horror Pac-Man, only instead of a yellow pizzaface you’re a cop on the run, instead of a blank maze, you’re in a gothic mansion, instead of pellets that can power you up, you have soul shards, and instead of neon ghosts, you have some twisted little freaks that will spook you for sure.
The kicker is you put yourself in this predicament by seeking out Helen Bierce, an urban legend of an actress who apparently vanished in 1930. Voiced by Carolyn Serymour, famous for playing Queen Myrrah in Gears of War, Helen is an ambivalent presence, guiding you and mocking you when the monsters get to you.
Glowstick already has a demo out, and you can either download or play in browser (No graphic content, but please do not play if you have a heart condition, links from their official site.) Once you’re sold for sure, you can fund the game here.
