The word 'Dinosaur' has been spotted in Battlelog's source code possibly suggesting that players will be pitched against T-Rexes and velociraptors as well as tanks and fighter jets in Battlefield 4 or, more likely, it'll be an Easter Egg of some kind.
If you're wondering why the Battlefield series has such a fascination with the long-extinct reptiles it came about as a result of an Infinity Ward developer asking for players' opinions of Modern Warfare 2 to which someone responded "there's not enough dinosaurs."
Other forum user piled in saying "dinosaurs are a deciding factor" in game purchases and as a joke DICE jumped on the bandwagon with dinosaur related gaffes in their games.
Alternatively, the DICE developers are simply using the word as a discription for some in-game component. It's not clear if this is a random name or something specifically selected.
Battlefield 4 is set to be released on October 29th for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. While the game is coming to PS4 and Xbox One EA have yet to announce a launch date for those platforms.
This isn't the first time dinosaur's have been unearthed in Battlelog source code.
