Paradox Interactive, a "publisher of games and a manufacturer of flammable nightwear" (according to the press release), today unveiled the existence of Magicka: Wizard Wars, a player-versus-player focused multiplayer game based on their celebrated Magicka franchise.
Magicka: Wizard Wars is described as a team-based, fast-paced, four-on-four twitch action-PvP title, mixing Magicka's spellcasting system and absurd pop-culture humor with new hardcore game mechanics and a focus on competitive play.
The game is being developed by a new studio called Paradox North instead of at Arrowhead, which produced the original Magicka games. The development team at Paradox North is composed of former members of Stockholm-based development studios both AAA and indie.
In Magicka: Wizard Wars, two teams of four wizards each will go head to head against each other, wielding a breadth of magic spells as players adapt their tactics on the fly in response to their opponents.
The game's announcement was punctuated (yes, punctuated) by a bizarre live-action trailer done in the same vein as the publisher's previous titles in the series. Check it out below.
