We’ve been informed that a hoax is currently circulating throughout the internet’s gaming webbosphere (that’s a word now) with fake details about Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5. The hoax, which originated from GameFAQs, claimed that he had early access to the as-yet-unpublished GameInformer December 2012 issue, which is set for release in three days.
The hoax goes on to state that players take on the role of “42 year old Albert DeSilva, a half-American, half-Puerto Rican, with an ex-wife and two kids.” It further states that the the game is heavily influenced by Breaking Bad, and that players also take control of “Dougie Vejo, an up-and-coming criminal in Los Santos.”
In any case, the whole thing sounds relatively believable until it goes into crazy territory by stating that players can switch between the two characters by holding down a button. It’s since been debunked everywhere. Read it here, if you care to.
For additional proof, GameInformer's managing editor Matt Bertz tweeted the following:
@arteebmusic Yeah that's fake.

On the other hand, Rockstar is now taking pre-orders for its upcoming, and highly anticipated open world game, Grand Theft Auto 5.
Developed by series creator Rockstar North, the new game is set to take place in San Andreas, a re-imagined, present-day Southern California in the largest, and most thriving game world that the studio has ever developed. Players will set foot into the sprawling city of Los Santos and the outskirts that lay for miles and miles beyond its limits—ranging from the tops of mountains all the way to the ocean.
While you can certainly pre-order the game through any online or brick-and-mortar retailer, players who pre-order Grand Theft Auto 5 through Rockstar’s own online service, the Rockstar Warehouse, will receive a Kifflom Tee, a light blue cotton-shirt with “KIFFLOM” printed in white on the front and “THE TRACT IS NOT YET WRITTEN” just below the neckline on the back.
For those not in the know, Kifflom is a fictional religion set in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto universe based on the notorious Church of Scientology of the real world. Given the series’ penchant for satire, the game is expected to riff heavily on the likes of Tom Cruise and John Travolta.
Those interested in reading up on Kifflom can check out the Epsilon Program website, which contains such wonderful facts as “The world is 157 years old” and “Dinosaurs are a lie that people believe because they are weak.”
Grand Theft Auto V is planned for an early Spring 2013 release for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. No other versions have been announced as of yet.
But remember, your happiness is KIFFLOM, so go ahead and order the game here.
Update: And finally, Rockstar has taken the opportunity to announce that it will be releasing the second trailer to Grand Theft Auto 5 on November 14. They released this teaser image featuring the game's fancy artwork to accompany the announcement.
