The pre-order bonuses for Square Enix's upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has been announced and it will, I'm sad to say, be retailer-specific.
All three participating retailers: Best Buy, Amazon and GameStop, have three different pre-order incentives. More importantly though is that what's shown below is just "stage one" of the game's pre-order bonuses. Stage two will be revealed on December 18, while the last stage will be announced in January, 2013.
Here's what you each retailer offers for stage one:
It seems players will be able to choose between Best Buy's Aviator skin and "The Beginning" comic book, Amazon's Hunter skin, Final Hours app for the Kindle Fire and The Art of Tomb Raider art book and finally, GameStop's Challenge Tomb. If you're someone who wants more gameplay more than anything, then the obvious bet is GameStop's deal…at least for now, anyway.
Of course, if I were you, I wouldn't pre-order now but wait until all three stages have been revealed; that way. you know what every retailer has to offer completely and decide from there.
Hopefully, these retailer-specific stuff won't differ that much, no? It's fine that publishers are relying heavily on pre-orders, but penalizing players based on the retailer they chose or have available? Not cool, in my opinion.
Tomb Raider is scheduled for release on March 5 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
