Speaking of Far Cry 3 on PC, a one-time activation for the game is performed via UPlay. If you're not familiar with Far Cry 3, Ubisoft describes it as "Far beyond the limits of civilization lies an island, a lawless place ruled by violence and human suffering, where your only escape is through drugs or the muzzle of a gun. This is where you find yourself, stranded in a place that has forgotten right from wrong, a place where you must live by the principles of violence to survive." In short, you're stranded in an island, and you need to shoot your way out.
Can Far Cry 3 steal some of Call of Duty's fanbase? We'll know soon enough once the game ships on December 4 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
