To celebrate the release of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, cosplayer Holly Wolf has put together a short cinematic in which she transforms herself into the iconic princess.
In a separate video, Wolf outlines the month-long process for gathering together the necessary materials to make the Zelda costume, as well as the steps behind making the Sheikah slate featured in the cinematic video. The cinematic is a collaborative piece starring the talents of vocalist Nanami0406, and is filmed by Henchemen Studios. In it, we see a forlorn, comtemplative Princess Zelda slowly explore a giant forest and lost ruins, which are actually home to a Toronto park, The surrounding fog and wet stone help to create a soft, melancholic atmosphere, or as Wolf herself puts it: A Zelda in Despair. She feels that the misty quietness in the cinematic reproduces the ‘lost feeling’ in Breath of the Wild, and the facial expressions certainly capture a sense of yearning and drifting reminiscence, perhaps a desire for something that is now unreachable.
