Slender is Getting a Commercial Release

So now that every netizen from your kid brother to your grandmother has soiled their pants playing Slender, that little indie horror game based on an internet-borne urban legend (and more specifically the Marble Hornets video series), it's time for a sequel. Not just any sequel, though. That's right: the Slender Man is going big with a commercial release, with developer Mark "AgentParsec" Hadley joining forces with Blue Isle Studios to bring us Slender: The Arrival.

According to Arrival's publisher, the remake/sequel will be "a bigger and better version of the game" and "even more terrifying" than the original. Though a release is still some ways away, early screencaps boast enhanced visuals and a camcorder-inspired HUD. Arrival will also add additional maps and a more fully realized story. (And… is that the tower from Dear Esther in the background?)

Part of the thrill of Marble Hornets and the first Slender game is its low-budget, unpolished look, so it remains to be seen how Slender: The Arrival will fare as a commercial product. We'll keep you updated, but, well… if we go missing, don't come look for us, okay?
