A recent report by Digital Foundry states that the Nintendo Switch may be more powerful than we initially thought, thanks to a recent performance upgrade known as ‘boost mode.’
Initially, the GPU’s clock was reported to be running at 307.3MHz undocked, however with the new performance upgrade, the clock runs at 384MHz. This feature will only be made available to developers, if they choose to use it, therefore it can’t be toggled on-and-off by users.
While the upgrade is significant, it still does not put the Switch on the same level as competitors PS4 and Xbox One. But that’s sort of the point of the Switch, I mean it is a hybrid after all.
The Nintendo Switch releases March 3rd, 2017.
