Well, this is officially a good day. The sun is shining. Birds are singing. And Bioware have officially confirmed Dragon Age 3? Hot damn.
Writing on the developer’s official blog, Bioware vet Mark Darrah outlined a few key details of the upcoming third installment of their flagship fantasy series, emphasizing as the company have tended to do in recent months the role fan feedback has played in the game’s development. The new installment, titled Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, has already been in development for two years and is being worked on by the majority of the same talent from Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. Adds Darrah,
We are working on a new engine which we believe will allow us to deliver a more expansive world, better visuals, more reactivity to player choices, and more customization. At PAX East, we talked about armor and followers… Yeah, that kind of customization.
Details remain scant at the moment. As Darrah notes,”There are a BUNCH of things that I really want to share with you but I want to do this right, and doing it right requires some more time.” Nevertheless, the blog post announcement is a very open-armed gesture on the part of the development team, who in the wake of Dragon Age 2’s mixed reception (and probably to a certain extent Mass Effect 3’s ending, although that was a different team) are making considerable effort to come off as pro-fan and feedback-positive as possible.
We’ll bring you further details as they emerge. For now, keep calm and carry on Grey Wardening.
