Yesterday, Netflix announced that they will be producing a Castlevania animated TV series, which will release sometime later this year.
Adi Shankar, film producer known for productions such as Dredd and The Grey, has confirmed to IGN that the video game adaptation series will be about Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, but would not go into great detail beyond that.
An official description of the show is as reads:
“Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself,” an official description reads. “The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic-book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert, and Adi Shankar.”
Executive Producer Shankar took to Facebook to promote the new upcoming show, where he also managed to announce that season 2 will be coming in 2018. The Castlevania series will be a four-part series with each episode being roughly 30 minutes each.
Shankar wants fans to believe in the new Castlevania shows and thinks the show is going to be amazing.
I personally guarantee that it will end the streak and be the western world’s first good video game adaptation. This is going to be the best f*****g video game adaptation we’ve had to date.
Season one of the animated Castlevania series is set to debut on Netflix sometime this year.
