The folks over at TES Renewal Project has been working hard at a fan project that we’re sure fans of The Elder Scrolls franchise are eager to try out. For the past few years, volunteers have been joining the progress in bringing the Morrowind and Oblivion video game titles onto the Creation engine.
Both titles have released in the early 2000s and since then the video game has not aged particularly well. This has prompted fans and volunteers to come together and bring both titles on the same engine that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has been developed on.
This is not an easy task as countless hours have been logged in for practically every aspect of the video game development. With more media publications picking up and sharing the project online, the project received more volunteers which as a result, more progress is being made in the TES Renewal development.
Apparently, so much progress has been made since the previous trailer which launched two months ago that the development team opted to launch another trailer. Take a look at what progress has been made so far in the video posted above.
Furthermore, here is the official list of what has been adjusted on since the last update for Skyblivion.
“More weapon sets have been created and the 3D department has started to work on more environmental assets that will help us re-shape the land of Cyrodiil for the better. Our UI team has been hard at work creating an Oblivion inspired user-interface which will allow the player to get more insight into his or her character’s progression. The landscaping team has made HUGE strides with recreating the vast landscapes of Cyrodiil and what you have seen here was only a small taste of what we have in store.
The interior team has blown us away with the work they have done on the interior locations so far and their work will only be added upon in the future when we start adding more detail and clutter to them. Quests are now at a stage where we can start implementing them thanks to our tech team, our navmeshers have completed almost every corner of Cyrodiil, and our texture artists have finished big chunks of new textures like our brand new landscape textures.”
While there is no indication on when this project will be launching, the TES Renewal team is still looking for more volunteers. In particular, the team is requesting the help of 3D artists, landscapers, lighting artists, texture artists, CK experts, concept artists, and animators. If you’re interested in helping out in the project, you can fill out their form right here.
