Blizzard Will Fix the Bug Causing Mei’s Waist to Appear ‘Much Smaller Than Normal’

January 26, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

Size matters, according to some Overwatch fans.

In celebration of Chinese New Year, Blizzard has organised a limited-time special event with themed skins. Running through till February 13, Blizzard is giving fans the chance to collect more than 100 themed cosmetic items, ‘capture the rooster’ in the newest brawl mode , and enjoy some fireworks alongside Lijiang Tower.

For the duration of the event, all in-game loot boxes have been replaced with lunar loot boxes which offer brand new skins and can either be earned or purchased. However, after the revelation of Mei’s Year of the Rooster themed outfit, some fans have pointed out that her waist appears much slimmer than usual and that her “butt sticks out”. A YouTube video uploaded by user 4chko shows Mei’s character model being rotated in her new outfit. Discussion in the official Overwatch forums is split, but a Blizzard Community Manager reached out to fans with the following response:
“There’s a bug with Mei’s Luna and Chang’e skins right now that’s causing her waist to appear much smaller than normal. We’ve already fixed the bug internally, but it’s going to require a patch to implement (ideally it’ll be included in whatever next patch hits your gaming platform). Thanks for the quick reports, btw. And happy Lunar New Year!”
Mei was also recently honoured with a Pop! Vinyl figurine.
