Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 6 has gone gold. If you're unfamiliar with how the term is used within the videogame industry, it means that the game has passed all development procedures (including quality testing and certification) and is now being mass-manufactured for release later this year.
In addition to that news, Capcom has also revealed a host of details for its upcoming free stat-tracking site for Resident Evil 6. Simply called Resident Evil.Net, the free online service will aim to enhance Resident Evil 6's experience by giving players a host of features normally seen in competitive shooters.
- Enemies killed
- Weapons used
- Medals earned
- And more
- Share your latest achievements with friends
- Receive alerts when your high score has been beaten
- Will support iOS, Android and Windows devices
- Exchange points for cool items including additional Mercenaries costumes or figures to place in your very own Resident Evil diorama
- Join fellow gamers to defeat a set number of enemies
- Aim for a high score in Mercenaries Mode
- Compete in these special events to win the ultimate accolade, the Champion’s Belt
- Can only be held by one player at any time
- Players will need to defend their title or watch it fall to another player
Not a bad feature to have, no? Keep in mind that RE.Net is a free service and you won't be required to use it if you don't want to.
Now that the game has gone gold, I'm hoping Capcom releases the Resident Evil 6 demo early next month and not just a week away from its October 2 release.
Are you getting Resident Evil 6 or has it become too much of an action game for you to care?
