Blizzard Entertainment has posted the intro cinematic for the upcoming expansion to World of Warcraft which takes place upon the continent of Pandaria. As the name would suggest, Mists of Pandaria is all about the Pandaren, a race of sentient, humanoid Pandas who also happen to be warrior monks.
The Pandaren race was originally created by the game's lead artist as a joke in Warcraft 3, but has since become a bonafide race with a mythology to rival any of the other races in the long-running Warcraft series, which spans multiple games, books, and other media.
The new, and first ever CGI cinematic for Mists of Pandaria was presented at Gamescom, and asks "Why do we fight?" regardless of whether you belong to the Horde or the Alliance.
Blizzard has a bit of lore for the World of Warcraft-inclined:
You've ended Deathwing's destructive rampage and saved the dragonflights from extinction. Now you must unlock the mysteries of the lost continent and discover the dark secrets of Pandaria's past. Explore ancient kingdoms hidden since before the Sundering, plunder vast treasures from the depths of the forgotten vaults, and rise to defend Pandaria from the shadow of a long buried evil – before it's too late.
