Naughty Dog came to Gamescom ready to impress. They showed off two behind-the-scenes videos, giving gamers an indepth look at the creation process of their upcoming survival title, The Last of Us.
The first video is a look at how much real acting goes into the creation of the impressive cinematics. Part of me wishes that they had used a banana in place of the gun, as the prop looks much more phallic than intended. Making a move away from traditional 3D animation is allowing for more nuance in movement and action, allowing for greater immersion and realism in games.
In this second video, you can see the various passes this motion capture undergoes to become the final product. It's video game-magic at its finest and something every gamer should think about while playing through these titles.
As more information about The Last of Us surfaces, the anticipation for its release grows exponentially. Soon we won't be able to handle it and explode in a ball of fiery gaming hype. Naughty Dog spells the end of us all.
