After a packed press conference at PSX 2016, Sony and Naughty Dog decided to close out the show with the biggest announcement of the day. The Last of Us 2 has been officially announced and will be titled as The Last of Us Part II.
It has been rumored for a while that The Last of Us 2 was in development; leaks suggested that the sequel will focus on an older Joel and Ellie and it seems like that is correct. As you can see from the trailer below, Ellie is much older and it seems like their adventure continues. Watch the premiere trailer down below:

As it is exciting to finally have a glimpse into the game’s sequel, a lot of people wanted to see a different cast of characters. However, director Neil Druckmann is confident with their upcoming story, here’s what Druckmann said:
I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to finally be able to say that Ellie and Joel are back for another intense, harrowing, and emotional adventure. Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of The Last of Us and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn’t the case. We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey.
The Last of Us 2 is still in early development so don’t expect a release date anytime soon, but Neil did note to expect more information about the game in the coming months.
