Sony has filed a trademark for "Rain" and it pertains to video game software. Now, the question is, what the hell is it?
Unfortunately, we don't have any other info at this point. However, seeing as Gamescom is just around the corner, could this be tied with their Gamescom press conference? It's been widely speculated that Sony has two new games to announce at this year's event in Germany — though, it's not known whether if it will be a PS3 or a PlayStation Vita game.
Of course, when you hear "Rain" with the PS3, it's easy to think of Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain, but seeing as the studio is hard at work on Beyond: Two Souls, chances are this is for a separate IP entirely.
Now, seeing as the filing is quite new, don't be surprised if we don't hear anything about it at all. Studios and publisher do work on games months and years before they're actually revealed.
In any case, it would be wise to keep an eye out on Sony's Gamescom presser just in case, no?
Gamescom will start on August 15 at Cologne, Germany.
What do you think Rain is and what do you hope it will be?
