Square Enix has announced today that the long-awaited JRPG, Final Fantasy XV has already shipped 5 million copies of the game. According to Square Enix Final Fantasy XV is “the fastest-selling game in the history of the Final Fantasy series.”
Final Fantasy XV launched worldwide on Nov. 29 for PS4 and Xbox One, which might have helped it reach the milestones it did; but do note that the game has been highly anticipated for over 10 years. Director, Hajime Tabata, stated earlier this year that a personal goal that he and the team would like to hit is 10 million units sold; but to find out the exact numbers of sold copies, we will have to wait a little while longer.
Final Fantasy XV stars four main characters, led by the young prince Noctis, who go on a road trip after their kingdom is overrun by the Niflheim Empire. The journey is filled with moments of brotherhood, love, and despair as Noctis learns what it means to be a leader and fulfill his destiny.
Final Fantasy XV is available to purchase now on the PS4 and Xbox One.
