Ubisoft is making its multiplayer VR games cross-platform, a move which means anyone with an Oculus Rift, HTC Vive or PlayStation VR can team up for a session of competitive online goodness.
Ubisoft Red Storm creative director David Votypka explains making VR titles with cross-platform functionality was always a goal from the beginning:
“Our games feature a strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned.”
The first cross-platform title available is Eagle Flight, a game about soaring above Parisian streets that have been abandoned by humanity. It offers both singleplayer and multiplayer options. Now available on Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR, Eagle Flight will officially launch for the Vive on December 20. So far, there are two other confirmed titles on the way: Werewolves Within (December 6) and Star Trek: Bridge Crew (March 14). Both games will be available for all three platforms come launch time.
