Being the ludicrous game that it lends itself to be, Saints Row IV, one could assume would give itself up to modding; but this wasn’t the case. It has taken nearly 3 years for for Volition to give the game a new mod and Steam Workshop support.
“A handful of dedicated Volition devs worked on this in their free time to update the engine and remove memory restrictions, as well as finding a way for individual mods to interact and work correctly with each other without the need for running special tools. It was all a labor of love for our fans, and we’re incredibly excited to see the crazy content you come up with!”- Volition said in their announcement.
Since the feature is fairly recent, the mod is also significantly slimmer than expected, however players can find a flamethrower guitar; new clothing options; and new characters.
Steam Workshop support is only available for the Windows version, but Volition does say it hopes to announce Linux support within the near future.
