If you've played a military shooter in recent years, chances are you're going to see a few familiar things show up. From unnamed terrorist number 1399 trying to take over the world. to set-pieces being peppered throughout the game's campaign.
While that might be the case, actor James C. Burns who voices Sgt. Frank Woods in Black Ops 2 thinks that the second entry in Treyarch's tale is "going to be a very original experience." He attributes this to Black Ops 2's new game mechanic that allows players to choose their decisions within the game's narrative.
In an interview with Complex, Burns was asked what players should expect from Black Ops 2.
It’s going to be a very original experience. Treyarch has gone to the edge of the universe. This is going to be one of the first interactive experiences where you get to make decisions that affect the outcome. So you could very well be playing at home, and you go and meet a friend of yours, and you are going to have two different outcomes to the game. Everything has been upgraded, from the narrative to playability of the game itself.
Now, I don't want to rain on Burns' parade, but I guess somebody forgot to tell him that games like Mass Effect, Heavy Rain and a host of other games have implemented this game mechanic years ago, no?
Well, in any case, this is a first for a Call of Duty game and that should amount to something, right?
Hopefully, this means that the game will have different endings and that they actually mean something. Instead of. y'know, just letting us choose between three different colors.
