Watch Dogs came out back in 2014, and it took us inside the interconnected world of the future in Chicago. The computer operating system that ran the city, ctOS, was so fundamentally flawed that our protagonist Aiden Pearce was able to hack his way through and uncover a government conspiracy going on behind the scenes. In Watch Dogs 2, ctOS has gotten an upgrade to 2.0, and we’re taken to the heart of San Francisco in order to see the chaos that Marcus Holloway and DedSec unleash.
People who pre-order the game will get access to an extra mission centered around a copycat Zodiac Killer. In reality, the Zodiac Killer was a serial killer in north California back in the 60s and 70s. He was best known for his cryptic messages he sent to the media, seemingly taunting them for his ability to murder and get away with it.
According to the description:
An unwanted ghost of San Francisco’s past has resurfaced after fifty years. A killer is staging the bodies of his victims all over Oakland like the infamous Zodiac Killer of the Sixties, and he’s taunting the police and news outlets with coded messages. Will you succeed in decrypting the messages and hunting down the copycat?
This definitely falls in line with what Ubisoft is trying to go for this time around. More focus on story variety, while still delivering on the part-stealth and part-action based gameplay that the first game had. Progression is measured by the amount of online followers you obtain, with more opportunities and hacker abilities getting unlocked the further you climb in ranking.
Watch Dogs 2 is coming out on November 15th for PS4 and Xbox One, and November 29th for PC. The Zodiac Killer mission is unlocked via pre-order. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
