When you think about Crysis, you think about a game that even modern computers struggle to run at 1080p and 60fps. It's an absolute powerhouse of graphical prowess and its name has become synonymous with "check the requirements before you buy." The series has continued to look visually stunning, both in Crysis 2 and in the upcoming Crysis 3, but the developers feel it's important to point out that there's more to the franchise than just a pretty world to explore.
“It’s nice to have realistic lighting, particle effects that provide that “wow” factor and water that looks like something you would go swimming in. But we also need certain elements to drive those things ahead and help us make a better engine not only for ourselves, but all projects that use our technology platform.”
With the news that future games from the developer will be going free-to-play, it's interesting to note that they're still looking at ways to make well-balanced, enjoyable games.
