Fig Finally Approved for Psychonauts 2 By SEC

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission approval sets up a framework for other Fig campaigns to follow.

Fig is a video game crowdfunding platform in a similar vein to websites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. The deviation that this particular website had taken was to allow backers the opportunity to receive a portion of the game’s profits after it released, alongside the standard system of backer rewards a crowdfunding campaign usually entails. To emphasize the freedom of investment available here: when Fig launched in August 2015 they only allowed accredited people to have that choice, but starting in December 2015 they elected to make that option possible for everyone. But to follow through with that on Psychonauts 2, the company needed approval from the SEC, and that process dragged out for months. Until now.

Basically what happens is investors have the opportunity to possess Fig Game Shares (PSY2 will be the name of the shares for Psychonauts 2), and that will give the return of the profits from the sales of the game once it releases. Anyone who was in the initial crowdfunding rush to get in on the ground floor for Psychonauts 2 should now be looking into checking back in and confirming the details. This solidifies the unique position in the video game industry that Fig has, moreso now that they have formal approval to move forward with their intended open investment process.

Past campaigns on the website include Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, Outer Wilds, Consortium: The Tower.
