THQ has decided to combine the planned Saints Row: The Third expansion Enter the Dominatrix with the sequel coming in 2013. The merger was confirmed by THQ's president, Jason Rubin.
While speaking with Eurogamer about the decision to roll the two projects together, Rubin said, "I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed we wanted to play that game. When it comes to Saints Row, it's clear our fans want bigger, better, and even more over the top, and that's why Enter The Dominatrix will now be incorporated into a vastly expanded, full-fledged sequel, scheduled for calendar 2013."
"We believe the potential for this sequel is far greater as a full-priced, full-length, high quality, connected experience," Rubin added.
This is a little like salt in the wounds for gamers who purchased Saints Row: The Third. Rubin is essentially saying this idea is so great that he wanted to reserve it for a larger release, one that will probably stand to make more money than a mere expansion. One can assume that if they are canning this version of the release under the pretense of focusing on a larger title, that no more expansions will be released for Saints Row: The Third.
