There are all sorts of news when it comes to Nintendo’s upcoming and highly anticipated console, the NX. However, most of these news stories are revolved around rumors, inside sources, and supposed leaks. With that said, Nintendo has been pretty tight-lipped when it comes to revealing practically anything about their next big console release.
That is until recently when it was revealed that Nintendo is putting up free NX consoles to the select winners of an upcoming Splatoon tournament. According to GameSpot, Nintendo will give away a free NX console to each member of the final winning team for an upcoming Splatoon tournament.
The tournament in question is ESL Go4Splatoon which will start this coming Sunday within Europe. Overall, the tournament will last six months as a winning team each month will compete at the grand final in 2017.
It’s within the grand final that the competing teams will be facing off to win their free NX consoles. We’ll know more about what these consoles actually are before tournament finals as Nintendo is set to release the code-named console into the market by March of 2017.
This is an interesting launch window for Nintendo as they will be missing out on a prime opportunity for the holiday season. Regardless, there’s plenty of unanswered questions we have for the console as more rumors start to spread online such as if the console will use cartridges instead of discs along with how it compares to the other current generation consoles.
