Capcom planning to move future Resident Evil development to western studios

Capcom to release more major titles every year, outsourcing to reduce development

capcom

Capcom is not taking its recent sales decline lightly, the Japanese publisher is planning to increase the volume of its popular titles which includes Resident Evil. The recently announced Capcom vs Tekken is an example of this new strategy, so instead of the usual two major releases per year, you'll be seeing three or four titles every year.

Being a Resident Evil fan, news that we could be seeing a Resident Evil game every two years couldn't make me any happier, but if there is a drop in the quality in a bid to push as many titles as possible would disappoint anyone who's a fan of the series.

Capcom is also planning to outsource the development of its key franchises and intends to make use of North American and European studios in the expansion of franchises such as Resident Evil. This move is set to reduce the development time from 4 years to 2 years. I hope this doesn't take the Silent Hill route, hopefully Capcom handles this with more care.
