While I admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise, the last few trailers and gameplay demos for Assassin's Creed III might have just been enough to turn me around.
Ubisoft managed to showcase two trailers for what's undoubtedly their biggest game this year. While the the first one is CGI, the second one is purely a gameplay affair and it's looking fantastic so far.
Now, before we talk about the gameplay trailer, let's get the CGI stuff out of the way. Obviously, Connor is doing cool stuff that most likely players won't be able to do in the game.
I gather someone at Ubisoft must hate the British, no?
All kidding aside, let's move on to the gameplay trailer where we see Connor go toe-to-toe with wildlife. While I'm almost certain PETA will find something wrong with the game's protagonist killing virtual animals, in Connor's defense, the wolves did attack first…just don't tell that to the deer.
Assassin's Creed III's platforming and combat seems to have been given a few tweaks here and there. It might just be me, but Connor seems to move at a more fluid and realistic pace compared to past Assassin's Creed games.
Speaking of tweaks, I gather the fine folks at Ubisoft knows how to push the graphical boundaries of the current-gen platforms; because the game is looking might-fine indeed…and from the PS3 version too, no less!
Assassin's Creed III is set for release this coming October 30 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. It's also coming out for the Wii U but a still-undisclosed date.
