Facebook just went public and while the stock prices are still not impressive the company is looking to get bigger. With the ever growing popularity of smart phones, A.K.A. shiny things, Facebook wants to jump on the bandwagon despite being mainly a software company.
The New York Times reports that a few Facebook employees have spoken out about this, anonymously of course, and have said that Facebook is hiring outside sources to get this project under way. Apparently previous Apple employees who worked on the iPhone and even one who worked on the iPad were hired to tackle the making of a Facebook phone. One engineer who worked on the iPhone even met with Mark Zuckerburg who seemed to be digging deep about details regarding smart phones.
Yes, there have been other Facebook phone projects but one of those was dumped while the other is still in development apparently according to the Times.
What does all this mean? It means that Facebook is worse than Apple at keeping new projects a secret, which is saying something despite iPhone leaks.
Since they have previous Apple employees working on the project I’d gander a guess that the new phone might be called the “fHone”. Get it? fHone? Phone? Oh psh…
