Infinity Ward Hiring for “Exciting Unannounced Title for Next Generation Consoles”

May 28, 2012 by Alex Co

Infinity Ward, the makers of the Modern Warfare franchise is now hiring for an unannounced title for next-gen.

While it's apparent now that the next-generation of gaming is almost upon us, that means most studios are hiring more new people to help them with the new projects for their –presumably — new hardware. One more developer we can add to the list is Activision's Infinity Ward.

Infinity Ward needs no introduction, of course. It's the studio that helped shape the modern FPS genre with the launch of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Of course, the studio's former founders and senior leads have departed to form Respawn Entertainment, but that's an entirely different story.

Anyway, Infinity Ward is now working on a new game which they describe as "an exciting unannounced title for next generation console systems."

This info has been gleamed from a job ad on Activision's site, where the studio is looking for a Senior Network Engineer and the job description states:

Come work with the game industry's brightest to design and implement high level network code for an exciting unannounced title for next generation console systems.
This role is for experienced programmers that have a passion for games and experience with online infrastructure design and development.

While I hate to be cheeky, could this "unannounced" game be anything but Modern Warfare 4? We already know Activision can't survive a year without their cash-cow gobbling up all that FPS money, so the bigger question here is, does this mean Infinity Ward has moved on to next-gen development? If so, does this also mean Sledgehammer Games will be developing their own Call of Duty game solo for next year?

Now, that's worth speculating about, no?
