Over the weekend, Valve took the opportunity to seize all the eyes on their TI6 tournament in order to reveal their latest hero coming to DOTA 2. This is the first time the game is getting a hero made specifically for the game, rather than an import of a character from the original DOTA mod. The new guy got his own teaser trailer to help tell the world that he’s going to be a thing.
In terms of specifics, the video itself really only shows off the character’s personality. He’s a trickster animal, capable of optical illusions and doppelganger powers to dominate the battlefield. He’ll be joined in the fall by another character addition – the Underlord (or Pit Lord, as he’s also known). This hero is the last of the roster from the original Warcraft III game mod, which leaves the direction that Valve will take from here on out to have some lingering questions. Would adding more content to the game make it too big, and over-complicate the balance of the experience as it is? With “The New Journey” update, it seems like we’ll get some answers in a short amount of time.
