In what's sure to piss a few people off, Sony Pictures has just signed Josh Trank (Chronicle) to direct a Shadow of the Colossus movie — yes, the same SoTC that's beloved by gamers worldwide.
Sony is planning on making a "big scale live-action" adaptation of the cult classic and the studio is even interviewing writers to work with Trank as we speak.
The report states that the film will base its plot on the game's storyline; though I do wonder how Trak and Co. will interpret Wander and his silent ways in a movie. I mean, a silent hero isn't exactly the best protagonist for a big summer movie blockbuster, no?
We do have one small, silver-lining though, Trank is supposedly a big fan of the game and even sought out the job himself.
While I shudder to think how Hollywood will mangle another videogame classic, let's hope for the best that this turns out well; or Fumito Ueda might resign in disgust! Oh, wait…
