Capcom has just released a trailer showcasing some of the things that happened at a Lost Planet 3 press event that happened this month in Hamburg, Germany.
While details are still a bit scarce — unless you know how to understand German, then bully you — a couple of things can be gleamed just by watching the gameplay shown in the trailer.
Sad to say, one of the key things I've noticed — which, I'm quite sure a lot of people would agree with — is that the game seems to go overboard when it comes to Quick-Time-Events (QTE).
I get it, it's a cool cinematic way of showing the player what's happening on screen while still letting them have "control" of what's happening, but there's only so much times a player can mash buttons in the correct order or repetition before it gets boring. In just the trailer alone, QTEs are shown to be integral when it comes to dispatching certain enemies. While I can appreciate the cinematic quality of it, it's one game mechanic that's been used to death since God of War vaulted it into peoples' conciousness.
Not everything is bad in the trailer though, we do get to see some cool mech action and the overall "feel" of the game seems to have taken a turn for the better.
Let's just hope Spark Unlimited reigns in the QTEs when Lost Planet 3 launches for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2013.
