When XCOM: Enemy Unknown was first announced, fans of the XCOM series were undoubtedly anxious about the game’s development and the potential for a lot of things to go wrong. When it was revealed that the game would offer six-man parties and a single base, those fears were ratcheted up.
To that end, Firaxis has released a new developer diary to discuss the modernization of XCOM in its upcoming game, XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
The developer diary is an attempt to placate these fears, and it should give us a good impression of what Firaxis plans to do with the game. After all, there’s little doubt that the decades-old game mechanics of the original XCOM titles hardly aged well—and their controls are incompatible with console platforms.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is set for release later this year on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
