For me, Diablo III comes out in about forty-five minutes. The nerds are lined up in front of Gamestop – I would probably be there myself, if not for my position here at Gameranx… News writing…
Anyways, the servers go online in 2 hours 32 minutes 20 seconds – yep, down to the second; my friend is messaging me in grade-school excitement about the game on Facebook, keeping me well-aware of his pre-release pains. One example: "I may as well be dragging my balls through shards of glass." I believe my editor – Ian – is probably foaming at the mouth right about now, too.
The news, however, is that Blizzard’s game director has said that “We haven’t officially announced it, because we’re not experimenting.”
What they are “not experimenting” on is a console version of Diablo III.
“We tell people that basically we’re experimenting, because it helps us hire people. The better people we hire, the better chance we have to actually make it.
“That’s why we haven’t kept it super-secret, but we also haven’t confirmed it, because we’re not sure yet whether we think it will work, and whether we think we have the resources to do it.”
