Pikmin 2 Sprouts a Wii Release on June 10

May 14, 2012 by Ron Taylor

Pikmin 2 is finally coming out—it’s dated for next month.

Pikmin 2's Wii port is finally coming to North America and there are two ways to look at the situation.

On one hand, it's better late than never: Pikmin and Pikmin 2 have been out on the Wii in Japan for quite a while and while the US got the first entry fairly quickly, the sequel was more doubtful than a longtime coming. Regardless, it's good to finally get it and relatively soon at that.

On the other hand: this could be right on time. A June 10 release means the port is hitting our shores after the re-unveil of Nintendo's next console the Wii U and the debut of Pikmin 3. A showing will likely stir some interest in the somewhat cult franchise, in the mainstream.

All in all, seems like a win/win situation for fans and Nintendo alike.
