LucasArts working on Action-Adventure for Next-gen

May 11, 2012 by Mat Growcott

Add another developer working on Next-Gen consoles, perhaps on a new entry in the Force Unleashed series.

Another developer is looking for staff to work on next-gen consoles, a new job listing has revealed. Star Wars (and point 'n click giant)  developer LucasArts are advertising on Gamasutra for a graphic designer in the hopes that a suitable applicant will turn up and work on an action-adventure, presumably a new entry in the Force Unleashed series.

LucasArts are one in a long line of developers suddenly looking for staff to work on future consoles, others including Harmonix and Bethesda. On the plus side, I think Force Unleashed is going to be a perfect game to release early in the next-gen lifecycle. It might not have an amazing amount of depth, but it does have huge set pieces and decent graphics (the most instant indicator of what the next consoles will be capable of).

Interestingly enough, Epic Games were quite recently saying they hadn't seen next-gen consoles, an at-odds statement when you consider non-Unreal-engine developers now seem to be far enough into development that they need graphics people.
