Rumor: Nintendo NX Will Be Portable & Less Powerful Than PlayStation 4

July 26, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

Sources make big claims for Nintendo NX.

Nintendo

There are plenty of gamers interested in the upcoming Nintendo console release, code-named the Nintendo NX. With their previous console release, the Nintendo Wii U, having less than ideal sales, its become a wonder as to what Nintendo will bring out to once again capture the interest of potential gamers. Now new rumors have come out from inside sources according to Eurogamer that suggests the Nintendo NX may not be the powerful console beast we might have hoped for.

Since Nintendo revealed that their next console release was in the works, there have been no shortages of rumors and supposed leaks. However, this new batch of rumors comes from Eurogamer’s sources and they are making some pretty big claims. It’s important to note that these are merely rumors and have not been confirmed, so it’s best to not read too much into these statements.

According to the Eurogamer sources, the Nintendo NX will be a portable console that gamers can take on the go while also being able to plug it into a home TV to enjoy as a normal console. Likewise, the console will have two detachable controllers that will allow multiplayer right from the start instead of the need to pickup a secondary controller.

Because the console is portable, it looks like we’re not going to see the powerhouse console that we might have hoped for. Instead, the console will likely be less powerful than the PlayStation 4, though because of its portability, past rumors suggesting that the NX will use cartridge-based games seems to hold some more weight.

While there’s still no reveal date set quite yet, the sources claimed that Nintendo is preparing for a showing in September to help promote the launch of March 2017.
