While Pokémon Go can be a wonderful game to both bring people together and get people outside and enjoying the weather, unfortunately accidents do happen.
A Pokémon Go player from Baltimore became so distracted by the game that he crashed into a police vehicle that was parked off the side of the road. It is fairly fortunate that neither parties were injured and the only damage was to the vehicles.
The incident was caught on film by a body-cam that one of the officers was wearing as he stood outside the car. The officer was not inside of his patrol car at the time and was not injured.
The Baltimore police released this tweet announcing the incident, which includes a video that describes what transpired. The player, who drove a Toyota Rev 4, collided with the police vehicle that was parked off the side of the road when he looked down at his phone while playing the game.
What can be said about the incident is that it regardless of what type of distraction, it should never interfere with a person’s ability to keep their eyes on the road while they drive.
