It seems like everyone is taking hits at each other these days. I'm bashing on Crytek and DICE, Pachter is taking hits at Nintendo, and now Nintendo is swinging at Sony. Nintendo's own Shigeru Miyamoto is specifically targeting the PS Vita, saying that it's not a “strong product”.
It's obviously a very high-spec machine and you can do lots of things with it, but I don't really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product," he told Edge. "I'm not looking at Vita as happy that it's not selling well, or scared that it would sell well — I'm not looking at Vita in that way.
Now Miyamoto did say that the 3DS wasn't doing too hot but he upped the devices game by bringing out Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land.
In the end though aren't both systems are a bit gimmicky? The 3DS has a sort of gimmicky 3D and the Vita is trying to be a smart phone without the phone. Games for both systems try desperately to figure out how to use the functions for the systems. Spirit Camera, for example, has you use the 3DS' gyroscope and camera functions to play the game. While this could be fun you can't play the game in the dark and you look quite silly spinning around like that on a bus. As for the Vita, the new Mortal Kombat game out for the device tries and fails to use the Vita's touch screen capabilities. Who wants to swipe their finger to attack an enemy? Aren't fighting games all about pressing buttons in a systematic, or not, order?
Just sayin' dear readers. Just sayin'.
