Everyone, from old to new, is playing the latest and hottest video game release, Pokemon Go. Now that Pokemon has become such a massive phenomenon it seems that big name Hollywood studios are after a deal to turn Pokemon into a live-action blockbuster film. However, according to Deadline, Legendary Pictures could be closing in on the deal.
Video games and live action films haven’t always mixed well together, but Hollywood studios can’t resist the opportunity to get on this Pokemon cash cow. Because of the wide success of gamers taking to their smartphones and catching virtual Pokemon around their area, Nintendo has made obscene amounts of money along with a 25% stock price jump.
Deadline has a source that claims Legendary Pictures is closing in on a live-action Pokemon movie deal. Apparently, this will be a rehash of the original and popular Gameboy Pokemon video games, though details are too scarce right now to make any additional speculations.
This won’t be Legendary Pictures first attempt at making a live-action video game as they recently released Warcraft which became a massive hit within China. Regardless, we’re sure that there are plenty of studios interested in giving Pokemon another go with its newly found second wind and popularity, but we, of course, want your thoughts on the matter.
