Since January, little had been heard about Gears of War: Exile, the rumored on-rails Kinect title by the team behind everyone's favorite chainsaw manshoot. Speaking to Gamespot today, Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinki stated that the motion controlled project was dead.
"Let's just bury the hatchet now, Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can't give any details about that has since been cancelled," he revealed.
Exile is not the only title that is done for Epic Games. During PAX East, Epic Games mentioned that the Gears of War franchise, as far as the characters involved in the story thus far are concerned, is something the development studio is leaving alone. This news was met with enthusiastic applause, most likely due to the prevalent feeling that studios tend to wring franchises dry.
Thankfully, it seems that an oversaturation of the Gears of War games isn't happening anytime soon–especially considering the development team is focusing on their upcoming title, Fortnite.
