When The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s E3 footage was shown off, one of the most compelling mysteries surrounding the game resulted in being the ancient language seen in the game’s structures and various points of interest.

The Legend of Zelda series has used the Hylian alphabet or some sort of variation of that in numerous entries. The most notable examples were seen in Ocarina of Time, The Wind Waker, as well as Twilight Princess. But it’s also been seen as far back as A Link to the Past, up through that game’s A Link Between Worlds sequel. (See the Zelda wiki for more on the subject)
So it came as no surprise that Breath of the Wild was seen featuring it’s own fantasy language in the game’s recent E3 demo. Thanks to the astute eyes of NeoGAF, an assortment of in-game texts that use (potentially Hylian, but that remains unknown at this time) ancient languages have been translated to an understandable English phrase or description. Below is just a small sample of what people have decoded so far, and with the amount of gameplay footage shown off this past week, there’s bound to be many more to come.
