Nintendo will release its new Paper Mario game—Paper Mario: Color Splash—on October 7 for Wii U.
The game will set Mario on Prism Island, tasked with solving a mystery regarding the island’s missing colors. He’ll use his new paint hammer and battle cards to take on “fresh layers of strategy.”
According to Nintendo, Paper Mario: Color Splash will feature the “hilarious action-adventure” gameplay the series is known for. Using the paint hammer, Mario will be able to revive Toads drained of their color, and color in colorless spots to search for clues and solve puzzles.
The new battle card system will allow players to summon allies and objects to defeat enemies. Nintendo has also added new “cutout feature” for players to “extract areas from environments to overcome obstacles whenever possible.”
Nintendo has revealed a bunch of other new information during E3 this week, including tons of information about upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The company also showed off gameplay from Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, which are slated for release on November 18.
Additionally, the company announced its new IP, Ever Oasis, during its Nintendo Treehouse presentation. The game is expected to be part town-builder, part role-playing game.
