During today’s second round of E3 Nintendo Treehouse presentations, they announced a new surprise IP called Ever Oasis for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s being made from the same team that worked on the port of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the 3DS.
You’re a Seedling, and you and your partner Isuna have to build an oasis. This Egyptian themed RPG has the standard exploring and puzzle solving aspects, but you’ll also be in charge of building shops and making sure they have goods. You’ll make alliances with other tribes, combating against the Chaos running amuck in the desert. You’ll forage for materials to make items and equipment, earning money over time as shops sell goods so you can build new Bloom Booths.
It’s not a Mario rehash or spinoff game on an existing franchise, which is a bold step for Nintendo. Hopefully this game does well, encouraging the company to explore other new ideas in the future. Ever Oasis is expected to release sometime in 2017 for the 3DS.
