Even though Epic Mickey was a Wii exclusive, it’s sequel is being brought to multiple platforms: XBOX 360, PS3, and Wii. Junction Point, however, has now confirmed that Epic Mickey 2 will be released for PC and Mac as well. That’s not even half of it dear readers. Apparently this is such a big project that 800 people from around the world are working on this project in a “virtual team†approach as Boss Warren Spector calls it.
“We’ve taken a very interesting development approach. My studio director Paul Weaver came up with a way of building a virtual team all around the world. So we have people working in Leamington in the UK, in Bulgaria, China, Canada, California, Utah. We have an enormous virtual team.â€
Spector said that this is “not outsourcing†but more of a collaborative approach.
“It’s not outsourcing. I’ve got to be clear about that. It’s not that we said, okay, there are a bunch of artists in Shanghai, go build us barrels and trees. We have people in the UK actually building levels for us, under our direction. We talk to them every day. We drive all the creative, but we have an enormous virtual team.â€
No new details have surfaced about the PC and Mac versions.
